Scum of the earth (and the land of no compromise)

OK, so I was reading the other day that Maureen Dowd had taken it upon herself to declair that men are no longer necessary. OK, I could be fair here and say that she is just asking a hypothetical, but I'm angry, so fuck her. (full disclosure: I haven't actually read this book) Anyway, it seems that the heart of her argument is that men are intimidated by powerful and smart women, which is why they (meaning women) can't get a date . . . or something like that. This brings to mind something that a female friend of mine told be the other day about city guys. Namely, that we are all out for sex, and not particularly interested in relationships. Furthermore, since there are so many options in the city, men are always looking for the bigger better deal. (Yes, I did get the sneaking suspicion that she was talking about me, although allthough we're just friends).

Now, I have to be honest. I know plenty of smart beautiful women (that's right sucker!) and some men are intimidated, but the majority are more attracted than afraid. The truth is that girls these days are so damn picky, it just ends up seeming like guys aren't interested in relationships. Lets put this another way, there are guys interested in these (because of/or even in spite of) beautiful, smart, powerful women. But lets face it, the women aren't interested in them.

Now, to easily dispatch the wonderful ms dowd. Women need men to bitch to about other women. Nuff said. Plus, frankly, a strap on just isn't the same.
